How do I prepare?

We want your teams to be able to experience the redesign the way that it was designed to be experienced - smooth and at ease!

Here are some suggestions we have for you:

1. Check out the new experience

  • Take 3 minutes to check out the User Interface redesign in a special preview instance, instructions here

2. Plan to set aside time for testing and any remediation needed

  • Have a sandbox already? Expect for your administrator(s) to receive an email from Sugar Support Team when 12.3 goes live to alert your team that the sandbox environment will be upgraded in seven days.  From there, your team will have several weeks to test before your production environment will be upgraded (and another notification will be sent in advance for that)

  • If you do not have a sandbox environment, your team can email Sugar Support Team at support@sugarcrm.com to request either A) a semi-permanent sandbox environment which applies towards your data storage, or B) a temporary clone of your production environment 

We are postponing upgrades for customers with header/footer customizations so that your teams have more time to test

TESTING/REMEDIATION

  • If your developers manage your Sugar instance and you are not partnering with Sugar's Services Team or a Sugar Authorized Partner for development resources, view our complete Technical Guide Here
  • If an app or integration for Sugar uses a Module Loadable Package (MLP) that includes a custom Header or Footer, the following is needed:
    • Refactoring your customization manually to use the new components accordingly.
    • Updating your module manifest to indicate compatibility with Sugar 12.3 and greater
    • Possibly maintaining two versions of your addon/MLP (prior to 12.3 and 12.3+)

3. Show your users what's coming

  • Plan a brief session with your end-users to show them what's coming! Here's a guide to help you in conversation with your team.
