Call Record ID in the Account Audit Log

This isn't a problem per se so I'm asking here instead of opening a Case.

I looked at the Audit Log for an Account record and saw that there was a change to "Record ID".  It seemed odd, and I was able to determine that the Old and New Record ID values were the Record IDs of Calls!

Long ago, I removed the "Audit" setting for many fields knowing that it took space in the File System.  Obviously, the record ID of a Call isn't an Audit field in the Account record.

Does anyone know why the Call Record ID would appear in the Account record?

  • Hello  ,

This is an interesting one, thanks for bringing the question up.

I believe that the entry that you are seeing in the Audit Log is related to the "Last Interaction" field on the Accounts module.
When relating a new Activity to the Account, the last interaction filed will be updated with the new record created, on this example, the new call:

With this change, the Account Audit log will display entries showing the new and previous values of the Last Interaction field.
These entries will include the Record ID and the module of the activity records

Most likely this is the scenario that you have where the Call record Id shows on your Account Audit log.

Can you check if this is the case?

    Many thanks

    André

  • Yes!  That's the answer.  Thanks!

We've been using the Last Activity add-in which tracks the date and time of the last call, meeting, AND email for some time.  The Last Interaction function was added but doesn't include emails so I haven't paid much attention to it.

    Mystery solved, thanks Andre!
