Showing Cases of Opportunities in Subpanel

Hello there,

I have added the following field to "Cases":

Thereby, I can assign a Case to an Opportunity, e.g.:

If I now go to the respective Opportunity, I dont see the Case there because there is not Subpanel "Cases" for Opportunities.

How can I ensure, that Cases are linked properly with Opps and are visible in the Opportunity?

BR and many thanks in advanve

Alexander

  • Hi  ,

You have created a relation-field in the module which does not really consitutate a relationship between the two modules, but more of a single sided reference. If you want to have a vice-verca "real" relationship, you would need to go to the relationship-section in Studio, in your case in Opportunitiies and create a new One to Many relationship to Cases (we have renamed our Cases-module to Tickets ;))

    Hope that helps Slight smile

  • Hi  ,

    thanks a lot.

I have added the relationship, as you proposed. Howewer, if I link an Opp to a Case, the Case is still not shown in Opportunity Subpanel. I guess I am using the wrong field (the one I have created, as mentioned above) to add the relationship?!

Do you have a tip for me here as well?

  • Never mind...Ive got it...thanks so much for your quick support

  • On a separate matter, I see in your screenshot that several labels are truncated with "..."

In case you didn't already know, you can change the placement of the labels in your Profile, under the Advanced Tab (unfortunately there is no way I know of for admins to change the default placement)

  • Thanks a lot...did not know...

Apparently, this depends on screen resolution (big screen = not truncated with "...") which means that this "problem" only occurs on the notebook screen..

However, its good to know that I can change it..

  • Hi  ,

I have a follow up question. Since now the cases and opportunites are related, I can see the cases in subpanel of the opps. Now, if I look at an opportunity, it would be great to see all emails of those cases in the emails subpanel.

Is that feasible? If yes, how?

  • Hi  ,

Sadly, to my knowledge, that's not possible out of the box/with configuration only, but would require coding. So you'd have to ask your Sugar Partner or a Developer (which I am not, so I cannot sepcify it any further Sweat smile) .

  • Although not exactly the same as what you are asking, if you display the emails for "Related Contacts" you will see ALL the emails related to those contacts including the Cases.

In the Admin module under Email you can find the "Related Contacts Emails"

And there you can choose to show related contact emails in Accounts, Cases and Opportunities:

If you show the related contacts emails in your Opportunities, you will see those contact's Cases.

So, assuming that the same contacts are related to both your Opportunities and the Cases related to that Opportunity, you should get what you need.

  •  Hi

if I want to be able to link a case to several opps, I change the Type to "Many to Many", correct? Are there any implications I should be aware of?

    BR
