Can we use variables in email signatures?

Hi Sugar lovers,

I'm trying to help one of my customers make better use of emails sent from Sugar. I'm referring to email written by users, not sent by BPM or the system.

I've already found out that without a third-party extension, I cannot define a company- or team-wide signature template (which is disapointing).

It also seems that we cannot use variables in a signature. I've tried the same structures as in process email templates without success. Ex: {::first_name::} {::assigned_user_link::first_name::}

Am I missing something?

BR,

Damien

  • Hi ,

I set up an email signature with variables for our support users.

The only issue I had was that I had to impersonated each user to apply (create) the signature for each user... I could not see how to make one signature and make it available to users based of teams or anything like that.

So it is like each user has to create their own signature. (but I did it for them)

Emails (module in mega menu, at the top) > click the dropdown \/  > choose + create email signature:

I made this - but inside the html section as I also made a table for the logo:  here is the basic vesrion though:

    ----------------------

    Best regards,
    $user_name.

    Technical Support | $user_region_c

     $user_workgroupemail_c
     $user_workgroupphone_c

    ----------------------

The documentation isn't overly helpful for adding the $user_field stuff:
    support.sugarcrm.com/.../

I can't remember now if there was an insert variable option? I thought there was?!
Maybe I used the pdf manager to grab the required fields. Or studio > fileds?  I can't recall now?

    I hope this helps though...

    Basically the syntax is:  $module_field
