How to communicate with desktop application

No where near enough information there to help.  What is the desktop app?  Where does it store information?  Can you export it (the data) to a file?  Does it have a way of talking to SugarCRM via REST or SOAP?  Would you be updating SugarCRM from multiple desktops?
