How to create Opportunities without Revenue Line Items

We are moving to Sell with RLI, but we feel that being forced to add a line item right when the opportunity is created from a Lead conversion is too restrictive.

I think it's common to create an Opportunity before exactly knowing which products will be offered.

Is there a way to avoid creating RLI on a new Opportunity?

  • We may not know exactly which products the prospect wants when we convert to an Account/Contact/Opportunity w/RLI, but we typically have some kind of idea. So we'll just add a qty of 1 of a possible product/service. Part of the sale process for the sales person is to update the opportunity with more detail as the opportunity progresses, thus we've not found this to be a hurdle for our staff.
