Enterprise off site hosting versus Sell in the cloud

We our a small company with 8 team members currently using Enterprise V12, which is hosted off site for us by a Sugar Partner.  We are looking at the possibility of moving to Sell hosted by Sugar and I would be interested to hear other's opinion of the two versions and the benefits for and against being hosted by Sugar.  Our current partner is offering us a support package if we move to the cloud would this be necessary?

Thanks in advance for all your responses.

  • Hi ,

Adding to what Chris said: I would say, it also depends on how complex your business is and much customizing you expect, or more precisely if you want to be able to do certain things yourself/with the partner more quickly instead of being very much dependent on the Sugar support.

If you don't think there will be heavier customizations or you don't need direct/indirect access to the code or data base yourself, then go with Cloud. If you want to be able to "work under hood" yourself (together with the partner, I suppose) or generally need more freedom e.g. regarding the question when doing the upgrade to a newer version, then an on-site (at your partner) hosted instance  would still be the way to go.

But from what I'm reading, it sounds to me like Cloud is indeed more interesting for you. ;-)
