Enterprise off site hosting versus Sell in the cloud

We our a small company with 8 team members currently using Enterprise V12, which is hosted off site for us by a Sugar Partner.  We are looking at the possibility of moving to Sell hosted by Sugar and I would be interested to hear other's opinion of the two versions and the benefits for and against being hosted by Sugar.  Our current partner is offering us a support package if we move to the cloud would this be necessary?

Thanks in advance for all your responses.

  • Hi ,

Here are the top benefits I would consider of being on Sugar Sell in their cloud:

    • Features & Upgrades - Being in Sugar's cloud means you consume quarterly upgrades to get the latest features available. You no longer need to wait until the following spring to get a feature that will help your business be more successful today.
    • Cost - There is no additional cost for Sugar to host your instance in the cloud. If you are hosting yourself or with a third party, there is going to be an additional cost to what you have to pay for your Sugar user licenses.
    • Product Compatibility - Being in the cloud means you always clear the major hurdle of whether a certain product released by Sugar is accessible to you. New products and features from Sugar will always be cloud first with the potential to be available to on-site customers.
    • Security - For the application and technical stack, you are assured to be kept on secure releases and updates in a timely fashion to ensure your data is safe. Sugar Cloud also has its own identity management service to streamline managing your users.

With regards to a support package for the cloud, that value depends on what services you partner is offering you above and beyond what support you are entitled as a Sugar customer. I think that is a topic best to discuss with your partner.
