How to get value of a Relate field for use in calculate field

Question

Hi, 
 I have a custom module that I'd like to automate the name by using good old calculated field Concat feature. 
 Problem is that one of the values I need to concatenate is in a Relate field pointing to Product catalogue. 
 I am unable to figure out how to get this value, as it doesn't seem to be exposed for us to use it. 
 Any ideas, or is this simply a missing feature?

I believe that the target module is either RLI or QLI, right? That said, you can create an Extended Vardefs on that target module in order to add another field map into the populate_list in the field product_template_name. Take a look at modules/Products/vardefs.php for reference.

Unfortunately regular Related type field added via Studio doesn't support the attribute 'populate_list' as well as related field selection within sugarLogic/calculated fields. You may consider replacing it with a real relationship 1:M instead.

After creating a real 1:M relationship you can easily remove the custom field auto built by Studio which defines the subpanel (custom/Extension/modules//Ext/clients/base/layouts/subpanels/.php)
