If I create a meeting via the subpanel of an opportunity, that meeting is not shown in the subpanel Meetings of the account which is linked to that same opportunity , why is that ?
If I create a meeting via the subpanel of an opportunity, that meeting is not shown in the subpanel Meetings of the account which is linked to that same opportunity , why is that ?
good question - this seems like obvious need.
Hi Hugo,
By default, it is not available in Sugar. It can be done only for the Contacts and Accounts module. Please go through this link for more information. But if you want this to happen, you can do it through code customization.
In that scenario the Meeting belongs to Opportunity's relationship, not to the Account's one.
A Meeting can only be related to a single record at once, that means, or it is related to an Opportunity or to an Account.
In order to make that Meeting to be displayed in subpanel under both Opportunity and Account you need to duplicate it, which may not be a good approach.
Another approach is to create a relationship One to Many between Accounts and Meetings. Then you will need to create LogicHook after_save on Meetings in order to relate new Meetings to the Account thru that new relationship if the Meeting is related to either Account or Opportunity thru default relationship (parent_type, parent_id). Finally you will need to override the default meetings subpanel by the custom one.
Anyway, it sound quite hard to accomplish for some very specific request.
Hi all,
Thanks for your input.
So... there is no out-of-the-box/easy way to see all meetings related to a specific account (be it an account meeting or via one of its opps or contacts) ?
That's strange, since such direct interactions with your customer should be one of the cornerstones of the 360degree view on your accounts...
Anybody knows of there was already a concept discussion inside Sugar around this topic ?
Bye now
Hugo
Hugo Geyskens unfortunately I don't think they really understand Customer 360 or Sales Intelligence. I am often surprised by the lack of real-world understanding. I agree, the relationship you are talking about is very important.
I once worked with Christian Wettre and he was very, very helpful and even talked me into some additional products that have helped. Coming from W-Systems I think gives him a different perspective possibly, but I don't know what is going on internally at Sugar.
We see that they developed Predict. Yes, it sounds cool, and markets well, but I bet only their largest clients will actually find value. For us anyway, we need Sales Intelligence and Customer 360, not AI.
Another W-Systems person, Vincent Barrientez, that came to Sugar is incredibly customer focused, but after his paid engagement, it is not his job to listen to us.
Whenever I talk to our Partner, Dallin Verdonk, or anyone at Sugar, I always mention how amazed I am at the bugs, or lack of obvious functionality I have reported in 2.5 years of use.
We have invested heavily (for us anyway) in Sugar and there is no way we can change, so I guess I will sit back and hope for the best.
It's unfortunate having to go over these similar points that were made worse ever since v7

Relation logic is in the platform core and has a fairly boring technical explanation.
Nevertheless - from the business perspective - to be informed about future activities regardless of entities those activities are physically related to in Sugar - this challenge is solved with Need ToDo Viewer Addon
