Meetings/ Contacts sync (assuming they are enabled in the portal) is not dependent on your instance being on Sugar Identity/ SAML.
Can you confirm that meetings and contacts sync are enabled in the Sugar Connect portal?
Please open a support case and we will follow up from there.
