Campaign Email Template Link "View this email in your browser"

Does anyone know if it is possible to view a campaign email in the recipients browser? We have created a custom template, but in order for the link to work it needs a custom url. Does this mean we would have to host the email in a web browser as well? A sample image has been included below.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Sugar Professional 9.0.2

  • Hi Dan,

I'm not aware of the functionality you describe as being an out-of-the-box feature in Sugar Professional or Sugar Enterprise, so you'd likely have to host the website yourself as you suggested. This functionality is available in Sugar Market (https://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Market/Sugar_Market_User_Guide/Email_Builder_and_Campaigns/Merge_Fields/).

I'm going to move this question over to Enterprise & Sell to see if Club members there have any other suggestions this functionality (unless you were looking at developing a customization around this, in which case I'll move this back to the DevClub).

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Dan,

This doesn't exist in the Campaigns module of Sugar Pro/Ent. Rather than customise to add the function in, I'd suggest looking at more fully featured email service providers - reason being that if this is the first thing you customise to extend the Campaigns module, you'll commit yourself deeper down that path, and at the point when you really should be using something else, you'll be feeling a lot of "sunk cost" type feelings.

Depending upon your needs, you've got a variety of options, e.g. for simple "batch and blast", using MailChimp (with the SugarChimp integration) is a pretty low cost solution. If you're looking at more automated means of managing engagement with your customers, Sugar Market is an option too.

Generally, I'd suggest keeping things simple to begin with.

    Regards,

    Adam

  • Thank you both, I suspect we will move to a marketing automation tool in the future. We are heavily reliant on custom target lists for campaigns so any solution will need to take those into consideration. Do you have any idea if MailChimp allows the use of targets lists for the emailing purposes?

  • It does, using the SugarChimp (https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/addons/SugarChimp) plugin which will synchronise segmentation lists in Mailchimp with Target Lists in Sugar.

  • Awesome thank you Adam. We usually create a new target list for every campaign as the audience is always changing. So as long as we could create our target lists in Sugar and then pull them to Mail Chimp then this would be a perfect option.
