HOW TO SEND Workflow Email WHEN Expected Closed Date Past 1 Day

This request has come up again. I am on the latest version of on premise. Can anyone help?

I am trying to create a workflow and/or (business process author) for new and updated opps. where I need to send an email if the opportunity expected close date is past 1 day.

SO IF TODAY > opportunity expected close date SEND EMAIL.

Small issue; how do I handle if the user changes the original expected close date to another value?

Can this be done?

Does anyone have a possible solution for this, it does not have to be with the new BPM. I can also implement with the old workflow but as long as there is a solution.

Thanks

Thanks

  • Hi,

Thank you. Funny that is exactly what I decided to know just before reading you email.

    Thank you,

  • Hello Peter Chimienti,

Good news! This is already included with Sugar Sell, Ent, and Ult in version 9.2. Simply enable the stock SugarBPM Process Definition template called Stagnant Opportunity Reminder (available for opps only or opps + RLIs).

This process definition sends an email notification to the assigned sales rep when an open opportunity is 15 days away from its expected close date. If the opportunity does not close by this date, the process then sends a follow-up email to the sales rep. It will respect changes to the expected close date, too.

You can modify the process definition to suit your specific use case. For example, drag a box around and delete the 15-day functionality shown here...

...and re-draw the connectors from the start events to the 1-day timer to satisfy the use case you described earlier:

You can even set the timer to go off sooner than + 1 day by editing the value in its settings:

Here are the 2 importable process definitions in case you don't have a 9.2 instance. Please remember to create a Process Email Template before importing these so that you can reference it in the Send Message event.

    Hope this helps!

    Jill
