Custom field "creates" a warning in PHP 7.1

Could maybe be because in the older instructions, there are parentheses in the file /var/www/<server_name>/custom/include/SugarFields/Fields/Highlightfield/SugarFieldHighlightfield.php:

require_once('include/SugarFields/Fields/Base/SugarFieldBase.php');
require_once('data/SugarBean.php');

But not in the new instructions (for Sugar 8):

require_once 'include/SugarFields/Fields/Base/SugarFieldBase.php';
require_once 'data/SugarBean.php';

I´ll be testing in a few...

I believe you are getting this error because the function signatures don't match. Specifically, the $bean argument. In your SugarFieldHighlightField save, $bean is being passed by reference (&$bean) but in the SugarFieldBase save,it is not. I believe if you remove the & from your SugarFieldHighlightField save it will make the warning go away.
