Custom field: highlighted text not working right

Just to be sure: You applied the changes in the detail and edit.hbs? 

The example you pointed out only does changes in detail mode of the record view, so if you want the same when editing you would need to add it to the edit.hbs as well

I was using these instructions and looks like I did it all except I had an "s" in the name of the detail.hbs file: 

/custom/clients/base/fields/Highlightfield/details.hbs  instead of just detail.hbs. One mistake I made.

But yes, I extended the list, detail and edit:

$ pwd
/var/www/abc/custom/clients/base/fields/Highlightfield
$ ls
detail.hbs edit.hbs Highlightfield.js list.hbs

according to the new:

I´ve done QR&R and cleared the cache in browser. Even tried Incognito window. But still no go :/  Any other idea?

Maybe clear the servers cache?

ah yeah, sorry I think I didn't bring my point across: So when doing it exactly like in the documentation then you're not applying the changes to the edit recordview. There is a comment in the code of the edit.hbs that says that there the background changes aren't applied, but if you want to you can. So I think what you just need to do is something like:

./custom/clients/base/fields/Highlightfield/edit.hbs.

If that was the issue I have to admit can be a bit confusing why there the changes aren't applied 

I can suggest to make the changes there as well to avoid that.

Yes, that seem´s to have been it. This line:

style="background:{{def.backcolor}}; color:{{def.textcolor}}"

needs to be in edit.hbs.

I totally agree that this line should be in the "exercise."  After all, the point of this code is getting the color line
