commission software to automate the process of assigning sales commissions

We are considering acquiring a commissioning tool that can automate our current process of assigning commissions.

I'm curious to know from you all about:

  • Best practices
  • Referrals
  • Integration guides and other documentation that can help further researching 
  • (And challenges, if anyWink)

  • It would depend on how simple or complex it is to calculate sales commissions, and who gets them. But mostly always I've used custom fields and SugarLogic.

    Most sales organizations I've worked with, it's the primary sales person who collects the commission. On rare occasion you have more than one person who will collect a commission, and at different rates, I've still used custom fields and SugarLogic to calculate. The Opportunity and/or Reveune Line Item records contain the information we need most of the time for this. If the staff members have different percentage or dollar rates, then perhaps a custom field on the user record, or use SugarBPM to set these values.
