If there are no views in the custom folder it just means it will use the stock ones for that module. If you alter something like alter a view in studio then it will create that view in custom/
am create many custom fields from studio and also change layouts like EditView and DetailView, but no views folder created in custom/modules/<mymodule>
What version are you working in?
If you are on SugarCRM 6.x like Community, then you will not have a view folder but rather a metadata folder where your edit and detail views will be stored.
