Microsoft Exchange - 2FA Auth for SMTP Settings

Hi everyone.

We are having issues with SugarCRM requiring basic auth in the System Email settings. Our IT team will not let us use basic auth for Exchange and are asking us to see what sugar can do.

The error we're getting is:
Wed May 3 12:35:18 2023 [123640][1][FATAL] SMTP -> ERROR: Password command failed. Reply: 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, basic authentication is disabled. [LO4P123CA0581.GBRP123.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM 2023-05-03T12:35:18.352Z 08DB4B800421582B]

Has anyone managed to put non-basic auth in?

Hi Daniel Hill,

We have updated email settings for multiple clients to no longer use basic auth for MS 365 subscriptions. Assuming you are running on a supported version of Sugar, Sugar's KB article 'Integrating With Microsoft Connector for Admins' should give you and your IT team what is necessary to make the jump.

Hi Chris Raffle. Thanks for that, I notice that is only:

send outbound emails, receive inbound emails, or access Microsoft OneDrive.

Rather than workflow / assignment notifications, is that right?

Hi Daniel Hill

Workflow and assignment notifications use the system outbound email settings, so once you go through the outlined steps, it should apply for those scenarios as well as others.
