BWC Mode Modules

My company uses an old BWC Contract Module. The main difference is the List View is different than new modules. My question is why is a default Sugar module even in BWC mode? Is it because we added custom fields?

If the module is in BWC it was created prior to the new framework and was never upgraded to the new framework. Are you on-premise or Sugar Cloud? It has nothing to do with custom fields.
