SugarCRM Upgrade from v8.0.0 to v11.x

Hi All,

Currently, we are using SugarCRM Enterprise v8.0.0. We were planning to upgrade our instance to the latest version v11.x. But we found that there are no available silent upgrade packages to proceed direct or step by step. Could you please help with packages to upgrade our instance from sugar v8.0.0 to v11.x?

Thanks in advance.!!

  • Hi,

I think you have noticed here that there are no upgrade packages that can raise your version from 8.0.0 - it appears that you need to be at version 8.0.3 to start the journey towards 11.x. Once at 8.0.3 there is a clear path of upgrades to take you 8.0.3 -> 9.0.1 -> 9.0.6 -> 10.x -> 11.x. So you have 2 options that I can see.

First (and probably best / easiest): raise a case with Sugar Support asking them to provide you with the upgrade package from 8.0.0 to 8.0.3 (or somewhere on the direct upgrade path anyway) directly. This package probably once existed and I suspect may have been archived. However, there is a small chance that there is no package that can lift you from 8.0.0 with the upgrader. And so you have:

Second, trickier but achievable: There still exists the download for clean installs of both 8.0.0 and 8.0.3 so you could, in theory, install both of these and do a diff to check what needs modifying in order to raise to 8.0.3 (remember that there may well be database alterations to account for as well as file updates).

Once you are on 8.0.3 the rest should be easy using downloadable packages that already exist.

Good luck. It is quite a journey from 8.x to 11.x Slight smile

    Thanks,

    JH.

  • Hello John,

I did an upgrade path from 7.9.3.0 to 10.0.4, with two ElasticSearch upgarde, one PHP upgrade, one Oracle upgrade.

    Quite smooth :-D

  • Enes,

Yes, but that is not the issue that the OP is facing. There is a clear upgrade path via patch files available in the download manager from any 7.9.x version right upwards. However, specifically there are no files available to upgrade from 8.0.0 which is where the OP is starting from.

If you start from 8.0.3 then there are files available. If you start from 7.9.x then you can do it easily. The answer I gave was to help get to 8.0.3 from 8.0.0 so as to start the available path Slight smile

    Thanks,

    JH.
