Hello Hello,
Could anybody tell me from which Revenue Line Item field the Expected Close Date on Opportunity is pulling from?
Or is it a calculated field?
Hello Hello,

Hi Ada,
This field is, indeed, calculated. This field is calculated as the last expected close date of all open related revenue line items. It will not include closed records in the calculation until all related revenue line items are either "Closed Won" or "Closed Lost".
You may learn a bit more about this here: https://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Sugar_Versions/12.0/Sell/Application_Guide/Opportunities/#Cascading_Values_on_Opportunity
Unfortunately, the calculation is not shown in Studio, which is likely where the confusion is coming from.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. We're happy to help! Thanks!

Hey Raye,
Thanks for getting back to me!
Yes, I had a read on that. But it is still confusing. I am just wondering - what field on Revenue Line Item would I fill out to see the Expected Close Date populated on the opp? I tried Service Start Date, but with no success....
I have a replacement field I added myself, but the Expected Close Date is much more useful, would love to use it on all opportunties/RLI as well as Purchases and Purchased Line Items

Hey Ada,
So you'd fill out the Expected Close Date on the RLI. It should then cascade up to the Opportunity.
I actually had some difficulties getting this to work myself. But if you're working with Sugar demo data, that likely may be the issue (it was the issue I was having, anyway!) I created a fresh Opportunity, added some RLIs, saved the record, added another RLI with a later expected close date, and the Opportunity's close date updated automatically.
You'll only need to update the "Service Start Date" field if you mark the RLI as a Service. That is not required to get the date on the Opportunity to automatically update.
At any rate, I hope this helps you out! Let me know how it goes!
