Hello,
Could you tell me what is the difference between the Preference Lists and the Subscriber Suppression List? In my understanding, their meaning is the same but maybe I am wrong.
Thanks
Jean-Philippe

Hi JP,
A preference list is a list option that appears on Sugar Markets preference page functionality. A preference list allows the person to opt in or opt out of particular mailings. These lists can be used as include or exclude lists in an email campaign. The preference list functionality only works with single email campaigns.
Suppression lists are options that can appear on the global opt out page. The suppression lists options allow the person to only opt out of particular mailings. Suppression lists do not have an opt in option, they are only for opting out. Once someone is added to the list they cannot manually remove themselves from the list.
I hope this info helps,
James

Hello James,
Thanks for your quick answer. So, every customer should use the preference lists as it seems more flexible, am I correct?
Or is there some use case that I do not see?

Hi Jean-Philippe!
We typically recommend using the suppression list route via the Unsubscribe page because it ensures the CRM is updated, and records are securely opted out. There are pros/cons and of using each one, so it will depend on your goals. Here is a link to a great blog that James wrote about this subject!
Hope this helps!
Best,
Tina
