Would you mind sharing details steps of what you are trying to accomplish?
In a Stock 14.1, when navigating to KBArticles I could create a new Category from the popup, by pressing "category" and then pressing enter. (Both in ListView an RecordView)
The alternative is to navigate to the Categories list view ( InstanceURL/#Categories)and do the edit, add and delete there, I have done that without any issues.
Can you let me know if I am getting your scenario wrong?
