Sales Stage Changes to Closed Won

If an opportunity is changed to "closed won" I would like the expected closed date to coincide with the date the sales stage was changed. Meaning I changed my opp today 10/31/2023 to closed won I would the like the expected closed date to automatically update to 10/31/2023.  Furthermore, I would like the probability to automatically change to 100%?  I tried to do a BPM and am stuck. When I have the action type change the field expected closed date I can't figure out the options.  It is showing 0 issues but isn't working.

  • Hi  ,

Are you using Revenue Line Items along with Opportunities? If so, the closed date is inherited from the related RLI records so the BPM definition would need to be focused on the RLIs changing to Closed Won (and updating their respective closed date) rather than the parent opportunity. If you have Opportunities configured to not use RLIs, can you share screenshots of how your BPM start event and change field actions are configured?

  • We are using RLI.  I am using the RLI module for the BPM.  I have the start when the sales stage is changed to closed won (RLI) then action change field, settings I currently have checked expected closed date (which i have constants, fields and run time) I have expected closed date but know I need something else).  I would think this is where I would also update the probability but don't have that option?

  • Hi  ,

Thanks for clarifying. Your change field action for Expected Closed Date should look like this if you want the date to reflect the same day the record changed to Closed Won:

I confirmed in an independent Sugar instance that this action successfully sets the date to the current day when I have the start event set to trigger on when the sales stage changes to 'Closed Won'. Depending on your use cases, you may also want to have a second start event on new records where sales stage equals 'Closed Won' if your sales team creates RLIs and mark them closed won on creation.

The probability shouldn't need direct updating if you are using the Sugar's standard fields and sales stage dropdown. The probability is tied directly to the associated sales stage so moving an RLI to 'Closed Won' should automatically update the probability to 100%.

If you're still having trouble, please provide screenshots of the your start event(s) and change field action.
