When using Microsoft Exchange (Outlook) as our third party for alert templates, any line breaks in the description field are coming through email as </br> instead of actual line breaks. Any idea how to fix?

We have email templates created in Sugar Sell and we have the description field as one of our fields in that email template. These emails have come through our Exchange email with no issues until about 2 weeks ago. Now the line breaks in the description field show </br> in the email instead of translating to the line break itself therefore jumbling up all notes together as one long paragraph. Has anyone come across this and how to fix??? Sugar is just telling me it's a bug. Can't believe that as it started at 4:15 in the afternoon one day. Not during any scheduled update time.
