Multiple Tags on Opportunity results in duplicate records in reports

Hi all

I might be something wrong - and if I am, please point it out

Ok, I´ve made a summation with details report. Works fine. Then I was asked to add the Tags name as one of the display column. Did that. Then we noticed that records with multiple Tags show up multiple times (one time for each tag). Here is an example of record with two tags:

Not only is this confusing/wrong but this also skews the total amount in the report, see the red circle. Each opportunity is added up in the total of the Display Summaries.

Anyone else running into this and has a solution?

Or is this a bug?

The column "Tag" I use in the Display Columns, is Opportunities - Tags - Name

    Hi Kristjan,

    You're doing nothing wrong, I would expect it the same way you do.

    This issue was recently discovered and a bug was filed for it:

    Let me go ahead and request an escalation of it, as this affects the readability and quality of the data.

    Disappointingly this is still not resolved since over 8 years ago. 

    It affects all reports and exports with Tags Unamused

    Hi  !

    I took a look at this issue and briefly discussed with some team members. It seems this issue had only two clients related to it since it was created. In other conversations, we've seen this as more of an idea as rows and columns in reports do not show distinct results in the target module. I've posted the Ideas below:

    Idea 24928 - Ability to Select Distinct records for all report outputs
    Idea 53932 - Indication of expected duplicate target module results in rows and column report

    Have you worked with support to go over your use-case a bit more? It might be a good idea to do so as there might be certain elements here of the system behaving as expected but perhaps not desirable for some clients. There could also be opportunity to seek alternative ways to output similar data when discussing with support.

    I'm happy to create a support case for you if you haven't already as I think that would be a good next step to talk through this.
