Configuration of new tile view

The documentation of the new Tile View here: https://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Sugar_Versions/9.1/Ent/Administration_Guide/Tile_View_Settings/ did not answer a question I have about it, that is:

If a Column value is selected to be visible (i.e. not hidden), but no records exist for that value, will that column appear in the Tile View?

Using the example on that page, if there are no Task records marked `Pending Input`, would the `Pending Input` column appear?

My ideal would be that this is toggle in the Administration section. If it's going to be one way or the other, then I'd prefer that columns that do not have records matching the criteria, do NOT appear as this would remove wasted screen space, but there will be some cases where a client may want it to not appear empty columns to appear such as for Cases, but to appear elsewhere such as for Opportunities.

  • Hi Ben Hamilton,

At the bottom of this section of documentation you linked to, it states, "If there are no records that contain one of the Available Values, then that value's column will contain no records in Tile View until a record has been saved with that value."

In my own testing, I added a custom value to the Cases module's Status field. That value was automatically added as a Available values. In Case's Tile View, that column appears and is empty beneath the header, confirming the documentation's description.

Recognizing the desire to be able to configure this, Enhancement Request 82832, titled:

"Ability to configure Tile View to exclude empty columns. Show Hide option in Tile View Settings is desired."

    I hope this helps!
