Outlook 2016 (win) (x86) Plug-in

OK, so again Sugar does not support the version of outlook installed from our 365 accounts, outlook 2016. I was told that my case was added to the Feature Request list, really? You are just not thinking about this? Yet another reason we will be moving away from our Professional license at some point.

Ok, sorry about the rant.........

So my reason for the post, has anyone gotten around this? I have 2 users who are left out right now and looking to me for a fix. I do know one thing, I upgraded my office to 2016 from 365 and the installed plugin kept working. So i'm thinking that if I can trick the installer into thinking that I have 2013 installed it would get past this issue. Any ideas on the reg key it looks at?

Thanks, Chris

  • Hi Chris,

We are indeed working on supporting Office 2016 for our OPI 2.1. Support for Office 16 will be in 1HCY2016.

Also, there is no tricking the installer about Office 2016 vs Office 2013 based on reg keys. Please do understand that we are not supporting Office 2016 as of yet for our plug-in so it can cause unintended consequences.

If there are any questions please do reach out to me.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Alay Desai is there an ETA on this? Seems like there has been lot of activity on this thread without any comments from Sugar - is this even on their to-do list or are they going to wait for Outlook 2020 to be released before they get a plug-in for 2016?

  • @LeslieMueller

Most of the questions are about when the Office 2016 support for OPI is coming and why is not yet there.

As I have mentioned above we are planning to support Office 2016 by 1HCY2016. I have already committed to this by December 2015.

You again ask for an ETA on this above. As a company policy we do not comment on specific dates for various reasons and so I stand by my commitment to deliver support within the time frames mentioned above.

As to why is not yet there...I am sure it should be obvious to you that support for Office 2016 is on our radar based on my commitment back in Dec 2015 (it has been even before O16 was released so it is not as if we are completely unaware of it). However, we also need to work against our other commitments and deliverables for our our product and have backlog that we work against. I am sure you can appreciate that we are planning our releases and our product progression considering many aspects and not just a singular dimension.

I hope the above discussion resolves the questions you have about Office 2016 support for OPI.

As always, if there are any other questions please do feel free to raise them to me anytime. Happy to clarify.

    Thanks a bunch.

PS: I hear you about Office 16 and trust me we are working on it. Thank you for being a passionate user and supporter of Sugar Products (OPI in specific here which is closer to my heart since I am the PM for it). This passion about our product is what makes us in the PM team here at Sugar tick and so we are always grateful for that.

Is there a beta program with OPI 2.1?  We have purchased new PCs and have Office 365.  This is very limiting to our sales people and a beta may work until you get the full release.  We can provide any issues we find with the driver.
