Hi, why without ElasticSearch?ElasticSearch is your friend, trust me... Its a real strong solution for this search. Aditionally, i'm sure that in the future Sugar will use this functionallity for others features
Sugar 7.x requires the use of Elasticsearch, you will be unable to install or upgrade to Sugar 7 without Elasticsearch. For additional information on the requirements for Sugar 7, please visit our Install and Upgrade documentation.
As what @Dan Kallish have said, Sugar 7.X requires the use of Elasticsearch during installation. If you are concerned with the Elasticsearch consuming a lot of your server resources, you can turn the elastic search off after you have installed sugar.
I think that Ruben question is interesting ; a lot of our customer feel disappointed with the new Sugar search. They found that the previous search was more clear.
So, instead of disable ElasticSearch, the idea will rather be to improve the new search (better display and sort for example, but also new improvment like full text search in documents).
Agreed with this approach, I think it would be a big improvement if there was a way to prioritize certain modules, and also show beyond 5 results by default.
