Update: Due to some unforeseen issues during the upgrade, the launch has been moved from September 1st to September 11th.
On Monday, September 11th, 2023, Sugar's Support site (support.sugarcrm.com) will be upgraded, providing several improvements for searching, navigating, and consuming the documentation. When the upgrade takes place, there should be minimal downtime, but if you encounter any unexpected behavior, please wait a moment and refresh the page. Once the upgrade is complete, watch for these exciting usability improvements and features:
We recognize that the Support site search has never reached its full potential, and frankly, there's no beating Google. With this upgrade, the search will now be Google-based, which means the search results will be much more useful and relevant.
We are actively working on further improving the filter options, so they won't be displayed with the new Google-based search yet, but a new feature will be coming soon to filtering - "AND" and "OR" operators. This will give you even more control in how you filter the returned results to ensure that you are only seeing content for your Sugar version or product. Stay tuned for that!
At the top right corner of every Sugar Sell, Serve, and Enterprise page, the Details panel makes it obvious which guide you are currently viewing. Is this Sell version 13.1 or Enterprise version 12.0? We know this has always been a source of confusion because it is hard to know which guide you are in, and the Details panel should be a big help.
On top of that, if you landed on the wrong product or version's guide, simply click the fields in the panel to choose the correct one and be taken there! We are very excited about this feature, not only for our readers, but also for ourselves when directing people to the content they're looking for.
In a future update, we will be adding the option to copy the SmartLink to the page for sharing with others. A SmartLink is a dynamic link to the page that takes into account the user's product and version of Sugar. This is a great way to ensure that people who use your link are viewing the content that is relevant to them.
It has been a while since the Support site received any visual updates, but the time has come! With a modernized new user interface and some new navigation elements, we hope the experience of reviewing the documentation will be easier and more familiar, with design and brand similarities across the other SugarCRM websites.
Besides all of that though, if you are like me and use everything in dark mode, be sure to turn on the all-new dark mode for the Support site! It looks great and cuts out one more of those blinding white screens as you go about your day.
