On-Boarding for Devs

Make those 4 tiles a mosaic that user can click on and go to it's releant anchor in this page.

Register

What steps should a partner or customer follow in order to on-board themselves or a colleague as a new Sugar Developer to ensure they have access to all necessary resources to customize Sugar?

Access to Sugar On-Site software downloads and mobile development tools is controlled using the Download Software permission. Read below to learn more about how to provide your new developers this permission

.

  • Prerequisite:
    • You need to work for a current Sugar Customer or Sugar Partner with an active Sugar subscription.
    • Access is only provided to authorized persons who are associated with these organizations

Register with Sugar Club

All new Sugar Developers should visit the Sugar Club (https://sugarclub.sugarcrm.com) and click the icon in the top right of the page that resembles a person's silhouette.

From the resulting page, click the "Register" button. Developers should use their organizational e-mail address. For example, their e-mail should be @companyname.com instead of @gmail.com.

Submitting the registration form will register them with SugarCRM.com and setup their Sugar Club account which is the place to get help with Sugar development questions. Using the organizational e-mail address will help ensure that the developer is properly visible in later steps. The e-mail domain is used to auto-associate with the correct organization.

Enable Download Software access for the Developer

Typically, the primary contact for a Customer or Partner will have the Manage Employees permission. This is often the person who purchased Sugar via the shopping cart or the person who signed or clicked thru the Partner agreement.

This person must log in to SugarCRM.com by clicking on the Login link in the top right of the page and selecting the Sugar Support (Case Portal) option.

From the Sugar Customer Portal, the user can navigate to their profile to find the link for managing their company (and, thus Account Members). The user's profile is accessible via the silhouette icon in the top right corner of the page.

The user should have been taken to the Manage Account Members. Form here, they can Invite Member or manage permissions for the employees. As the user invites members, they can set their Access Level.

From the Employees tab, they can then control which employees have access to Download Manager Authorized Contact but also who can be an Account Administrator which will allow others to perform this action in the future as well as interact with as Support Authorized Contact. It is a good idea to have at least one person as a backup who has theAccount Administrator permission if the primary contact is unavailable.

Once a developer has theDownload Manager Authorized Contact permission, then they should be able to access what they need in the next step.

Visit Download Manager or Developer Builds space to access Sugar code

Sugar On-Site software downloads are available for Partners and Sugar On-Site customers only.

Developers should then be able to Log In to SugarCRM.com and visit Download Manager (https://store.sugarcrm.com/download). The developer can then download any Sugar software associated with the company account. The dropdown list that appears may have different items in it depending on access control rules.

Developers will also need to know their subscription key to enter into the Sugar installer. All subscriptions can be found in the dashboard page (main page).

Are you a SugarCloud customer?

SugarCloud ;Developer Builds are available for all partners and customers for development and test purposes only.

Visit the Mobile Tools portal to access Mobile SDK and MACS

Access to Mobile Tools is only available to Partners and Sugar Enterprise and Ultimate customers only.

From Download Manager, you will find an option called Mobile Tools. Selecting this option will redirect your browser to the Mobile Tools Portal (https://mobiletools.sugarcrm.com).

From there you will be able to access MACS and the Mobile SDK.

Setup

In order to get access to the Sugar code, you need to be either a SugarCRM customer or a partner.  To learn more about our partner program and to apply, please check out our web site.

Partners also get access to Sugar cloud instances that they can use to quickly get started. See the Partner Portal for more information about accessing the Sugar cloud.

  • If you are doing code development on Sugar, you can download an On-Site version of the Sugar application using Download Manager via sugarcrm.com.
  • If you need access to a Sugar cloud development build in order to target a Sugar cloud release, then you can access those in the  Sugar cloud developer builds space.
  • Want to get started developing quickly? Use our Vagrant set up instructions! If you want to set up a full LAMP or MAMP stack on your own, you can follow our On-Site Installation guide or the OSX development environment setup guide.
