You'd rather user SugarLogic to calculate the number of activities linked to the opportunity (https://support.sugarcrm.com/Knowledge_Base/Studio_and_Module_Builder/Sugar_Logic/Capturing_Records_Activities_Counts_Using_Calculated_Fields/)
If you are more looking for a summarizing field, you'd rather use the timeline dashlet to get a overview of the activities linked to the opportunity.

yes, the recalculate fields option from list menu will allow you to recalculate your opportunities.
If your number of opportunities is really important, you should split your operation by filtering the list.

I created actually three separate fields for number of activities (emails, notes, meetings).
Do you know, if it is possible to create a report with that will show how many emails, notes and meetings are per each opportunity in last 30 days? I was trying to build such report as summation or matrix, but without success.

Yes I was able to set up fields to capture the number of Emails / Notes / Meetings per opportunity and lead.
For reporting - I use one Rows and Columns to see in general the number of these activities on a given record. To see activity in last 30 days I use separate reports - one for notes, one for meetings. I am looking into Advanced Reports to see if I can combine different activities on the same report.
What are you trying to build?
I would like to create one report that gives me the amount of time spent for messages, calls, meetings and e-mails all together, without having them splitted in different reports, grouped by month and by user (I have a custom field in each of them to record the amount of time spent for each activity).
Writing the query manually in the advanced report shoudl be possibile, but it is not very user frinedly and, as far as I know, there is not the possibility the plot the result of an advanced report in dashlets.
I am not sure if you will be able to do it, simply because of the reports limitations - e.g. you can see time spent on messages per month per sales rep. Unless you just use Rows and Columns report - but you won't have a summation at that point.
I think it's more of an advanced reporting request - but if you found a solution already please share :)
