I tried replicating the same in my local instance and it is working perfectly. As per your screenshot is the $monthrev_calc_c field is currency field or something else. I tried creating two currency fields and made the second field calculated in the first field. The formula is working fine and it is calculating as expected. Can you please check the data type of your first field?
