Can I create recurring tasks without using process definitions?

I want to create a task that either reopens and reassigns its self to someone each week until a specific date OR have a task recreate itself each week.

I know I can do a work-around with process definitions, but I'd want users to be able to create these under their campaigns rather than have a process that does it all or nothing.

  • Sure!

We have a customer journey task under an opportunity for providing performance updates. Currently the account manager is reassigning to the media buyer once a week as a prompt to request those numbers. In order to automate that we were trying to find a way to either have the task reassign to the media buyer every Tuesday through the end of the campaign as a prompt to put the numbers in OR have the task recreate itself and assign it to the buyer each week on Tuesdays through the end of the campaign.

Further to use a scheduler, as Jeff recommended, I would suggest reviewing the following option: use not Task but Call because Call can be configured as "recurring" out-of-the-box. Perhaps, this helps to meet your needs.

Of course, both options ("Scheduler" and "Call instead of Task") have pros and cons and require taking into account do you use the Sugar Customer Journey plugin or not; is calendar syncs or not; is a media buyer user or external contact; what data can be changed during a campaign: media buyer, the end date of the campaign, etc.; what should be controlled by a manager: timely performance update or just new numbers of performance; etc.

I hope this helps you to choose an optimal way to solve this task.
