Global search no longer available when creating a lead?

Apparently users are stating they used to be able to search a phone number for instance in the global search then if that number was not found, they start to create a lead. They need that phone number to plug in so they could always get it from that search field. Now that search field is GONE when you click Create Lead. Did this happen with an update? Any way to pin the global search no matter what?

After clicking create lead....

Search should still remain at the top above the new lead window.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am not a daily user but I am an admin.

  • Hi  ,

I believe this behavior started back in 12.3. I agree it is a poor experience that the entire header is lost when creating a new record. We raised this as a defect with Sugar Support back then (bug # 91566), but it hasn't gotten much traction yet. I recommend filing a case with Sugar Support referencing this bug so they can associate your case to the defect and provide you updates on its progress.

If you are looking to avoid creating duplicate leads based on the phone number, our Upsert Deduplicate plug-in is a great option for validating whether other records have the same phone number, email address, etc. Let me know if you would like a demo of the plug-in to see how it could help your users keep your leads and other Sugar data in check!
