Sugar (version 12.0.0)

Update existing records,

Have an excel file with 15000 records to be updated, saved this file as UTF-8 comma dilimited csv file.

When I try to update an error shows:

The field delimiter and qualifier in the import file could not be detected. Please verify the settings in the Import File Properties.

Now I opened the same excel created UTF-8 comma dilimited csv file in google sheets and dowloaded it again.

Using this file to update records and no problems!

My question is why does an excel created csv file give me errors and a google sheet created csv file doesn't

Hi Rick,

Thanks for reaching out!

Did you double-check the Import properties? While the wizard should automatically detect these properties, I've occasionally seen .csvs that require someone to actually go into the settings and make sure you set UTF-8 and denote comma delimited despite it being obvious.

You can see the import properties being confirmed in Step 8 of this page: https://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Sugar_Versions/13.0/Sell/Application_Guide/Import/index.html#Importing_New_Records

If you did, indeed, do this with the Excel created .csv, please let me know and I can look deeper. Thanks!
