Can I use a PBR to set a dropdown value to blank?

I'm trying to integrate a business process rule into a process definition that will revert a dropdown value back to blank if certain conditions are met. Can't seem to make it happen no matter what I try.

I'm attempting this action through BPRs because the dropdown is a required field and I can't use a process definition action to set a required field to blank. I thought perhaps Sugar wouldn't perform the BPR because of the field requirement. However, it still doesn't work after disabling the field requirement.

Am I trying to do something that's impossible?

I am running Sugar Enterprise 10.0.2 cloud.

As long as it's not a required field, we can definitely set a dropdown value to be empty, I've done this myself. Maybe the dropdown definition doesn't have an empty value? You can check the dropdown value in your "Dropdown Editor" to check if there is a blank row, eg:

If there is no such blank field, you can add an entry without any Name/Label, so that that can appear as a blank value.
