Sending time and possible delays?

Hello Clubbers,

When sending a campaign, what out of the following items could cause possible delays in the emails getting sent...

  1. Age of customer, meaning new customers go into a sending pool consisting of more customers which could have larger emailing queues to process?
  2. Time and day which could coincide with other customers sending campaigns?
  3. In the sending pool is the sending of emails based on first in first sent or are customer weighted on trust?
  4. If the age of the customer is taken into consideration, over time do they move into other sending pools?
  5. Is it possible if a campaign or nurture schedule is set to only send emails during work hours, that is based on the email generation in Market, which in theory an email could be generated scheduled for delivery then be delayed while in the queue for actual sending, resulting in the actual email getting sent out of the scheduled times set?

Kind regards

Justin

  • Hi Justin,

Below in bold are answers to your specific questions

    1. Age of customer, meaning new customers go into a sending pool consisting of more customers which could have larger emailing queues to process? Age of customer doesn't affect sending time. The sending pool that each customer is a part of randomly assigned to a new customer (unless they have their own dedicated IP).
    2. Time and day which could coincide with other customers sending campaigns? This could cause delays in sending. If another customer that is in the same sending pool or on the same server is sending a very large campaign at the same time that you are trying to send yours it may delay your send due to a lack of resources.
    3. In the sending pool is the sending of emails based on first in first sent or are customer weighted on trust? The sending of emails are not weighed on trust and they are sent out in parallel if multiple customers have email sends going out at the same time.
    4. If the age of the customer is taken into consideration, over time do they move into other sending pools? Age is not taken into consideration
    5. Is it possible if a campaign or nurture schedule is set to only send emails during work hours, that is based on the email generation in Market, which in theory an email could be generated scheduled for delivery then be delayed while in the queue for actual sending, resulting in the actual email getting sent out of the scheduled times set? If a nurture is scheduled to only send emails during certain days and times, that will be respected. If the send is delayed for whatever reason and it would cause the email to be sent out during a time that sending is not allowed, the email will be held until it reaches a period that sending is allowed again. Campaigns do not have black out dates so they don't have a similar restriction.

I hope this clears things up. If you have any further questions or want additional information about any of this just let me know!

    Kind regards,

    Ryan
