You are correct that SMTP Auth needs to be enabled. For clients of ours where they want to configure Sugar with Microsoft 365, they have a specific MS account dedicated for sending email from Sugar. All normal users have SMTP Auth disabled but the tenant and dedicated account have it enabled.

Hi Chris Raffle I have setup an account in Office 365 to handle the email and set to SMTP Auth enabled but the email test still fails to connect to smtp.office365.com using this account.

If you are still receiving the errors you listed above, then you need to enable SMTP Auth at the tenant level. You can modify this setting via the UI or PowerShell.
