Create a role that can enter but read only to others

I don't think you would want to use the 'Read Only' attribute in Studio because the formulas you can use there apply for all users accessing a record. In other words, SugarLogic formulas don't have the capability to be contextual to the user. Instead, I recommend that you make the field read-only via roles. If the person who can edit Distributor account info belongs to a role shared with other users, I recommend creating a unique role for her. Then, set all of your other existing roles to have that field be read-only.

Admins would still be able to edit the field in this scenario, but all regular users would be restricted with the exception of the select user.

Thanks Chris.  I did make a special role for her but how to give her permission to specific field via her role? I want her to be able to enter/edit Distributor name, address etc. but not the rest of the team

With the setup I recommended, you shouldn't need to grant her special access to the field. Double check the following:

• Confirm your editing user does not belong to any roles shared with other users. If she is in multiple roles, the most restrictive settings are applied and we want to avoid that scenario.
• Confirm the field is not marked as read-only in Studio. The read-only restriction will be done at the role-level.
• Update all roles not associated with your editing user to set that field as read-only.
• Ensure all your regular users belong to at least one role to have that restriction in place

Please note that any changes to role permissions requires users to log out and back in to receive those permission changes.
