File error while uploading revenue line items

Good afternoon,

We are currently migrating data from one Sugar instance to another. For all modules the import worked quite ok. However, with importing the revenue line items an error shows up without any elaboration. It just shows an error occured while uploading and I have no idea what is going wrong. All the fields are correctly as far as I can see in the CSV file.

The files are being uploaded it seems, but at the end after uploading all the records it shows this error. This is very time consuming as I am uploading more than 6000 records. (not all in one go, I try to upload a 1000 records per time). When I check to be sure wether the records are uploaded or not, I don't see the records so there is nothing being uploaded into the Sugar instance.

I also already uploaded the opportunities and this did not give any errors that could not be resolved.

Is there a solution for this?

Thank you in advance for the answer and help.

Best regards,

  • Hi Maike,

Thank you for presenting this. One thing I would do to troubleshoot this is to confirm if the error occurs in smaller batches, even confirming whether it occurs if you import just one record. I don't recognize the nature of the error from what is described, but simplifying reproduction of it often helps facilitate discovery of potential root causes.

I would also consider other approaches. The importer is a valuable tool when bring in records from, say, Excel. But, it was not designed to handle migrations from one CRM to another (even if both CRMs are just different versions of Sugar.

There are third-party tools like Talend that are specifically designed for migration.

If you host your own Sugar applications, you might have direct database access to each. In that case, you might be able to get records migrated using direct database queries.

If the Sugar application you are migrating into is hosted by SugarCRM, I recommend filing a support case with Sugar Support and provide them a copy of the simplest possible import file you can reproduce the symptom with.
