The field will only calculate when the record is saved. Did you edit and save the record after adding the calculation to the field in Studio?

So I create a calculated field 'Base Rate Num' and set it to number($base_rate) and then exposed both the $base_rate and $base_rate_num on the form. The $base_rate appears as 1.040000 but the $base_rate_num is blank?

Any ideas?

number($base_rate) will convert $base_rate into a number.
