Today a colleague asked me how to change her password and when I wanted to show her how via her profile I noticed that the button "Password" has vanished. It has also vanished in my admin account on the user profiles. Anyone else has this problem? I guess we can still change the password via "Forgotten password" but is there anything I can do to bring back the option to change it in the profile?

Are you hosted in SugarCloud? If so, your instance is likely now configured with SugarIdentity and credentials are managed through that service by your admin users.
If you are hosted outside of SugarCloud, the 'Password' tab will not be available if Sugar is configured with SSO (i.e. SAML or LDAP). That configuration can be validated by going to Admin > Password Management.
