Controling the cell format of Excel for Sugar exports

Hi there,

When I export the Contacts list from Sugar to Excel, the phone numbers in some cases get 'corrupted', since Excel (I assume) tries to interprete them as formulas in about 10% of the cases.

An example

Sugar : +49 4131/77- 2536

Excel interpretes as  ; =102,649350649351- 2536

Excel displays the result : -2433,350649

Reason is , that the Phone info is exported into a 'General' formatted cell of Excel.

If I could switch those phone info cells to Text formatting , all would be fine.

Does anybody has a trick how I can fix this in the Export of Sugar ?

Thanks !

Hugo

  • Hi there,

The issue seems to be that after the SalesOne .csv export finishes, you cannot have that .csv file directly opened in Excel via the 'Open File' button in the webbrowser. You...

    • first need to launch Excel
    • than open a blank Workbook
    • and than import the (saved) .csv as usual.

Only via that procedure the phone numbers are entered/formated as intended.

I don't know what Excel internal difference exists between the 2 procedures...They look very similar to me.

    Thanks for your reply anyway!
