Create a notification (viewed from the top right menu pills) from a BPM

I believe there is a way to purge most of it and only keep the messages via the config?

unfortunatelly the activity stream is taking too much resource so we'd rather avoid to use it.

One of the main features of our Upsert Notifications plug-in does exactly this! You can define multiple notification templates to be used in SugarBPM and you choose the alert level for each notification template. Our custom BPM action gives you the option to send a notification to a number of dynamic options including the modifying user, the process user, all users associated with the team(s) on a record, and more. To help give context to the recipient, the notification is flex related to the record that triggered the BPM:

Is enabling the 'Activity Stream' an option for you? With these you can add messages to any user(s), and the message alert will appear at the top-right 'alarm bell'
