On top of what everyone else said, which is about getting the actual software, infrastructure and installation steps, I wanted to add two pre-made development infrastructures that you can use for development.

The first one is the Vagrant VirtualBox image for the infrastructure: https://support.sugarcrm.com/Resources/Environments/Development_Environments/Vagrant_Development_Environment/

The other "unofficial" project (which I personally maintain) is used by a number of developers and partners in the community and it is called SugarDockerized. It leverages Docker and potentially VirtualBox if you need a Linux underlying OS. The project link is here: https://github.com/esimonetti/SugarDockerized with all its instructions and details that are required

The mysql(5.7) database is required for SugarCRM. Therefore you need to install wamp version 3.X on you windows 10. So it will install apache sever, mysql database and PHP on your laptop. The elastic search is also required so download elasticsearch 5.6 or later. Before start installation do this support.sugarcrm.com/.../ installation prerequisites. These prerequisites are common for all version of sugarcrm. The prerequisites changes must be done in php.ini file. once this changes done, start sugarcrm installation. You can create virtual host also to use specific domain.

On which operating system you want to install sugarcrm(latest version i.e. Enterprise 10.X)? if you are installing on windows operating system, then firstly install WAMP. Make required changes in php.ini file. Then download the sugarcrm ent 10.x zip file from your sugarcrm account and extract it in root folder i.e www. Now execute it as localhost so Installation window will open. It will asked some information like database name, user name etc. Provide it so installation will complete. For linux operating system, the process is different.

Does your customer have a license to a current version of SugarCRM? If so, they will have the ability to download our software from their login to our website. Alternatively they can request that your account is associated with their license key, so that you can download the software on their behalf.

Hi,

Sugar updates its product versions every quarter of a year and makes significantly improvements in all features in every version. The versions which you are using is 6.5.26 SugarCRM is outdated version and Sugar is no longer providing support for this version. You have to upgrade to the latest version 10.1 SugarCRM. Always upgrading the product up to date is the best practice to enjoy all the Sugar Feature Enhancements.

Which SugarCRM Version are you going to do the development work on?

You can check out the SugarCRM's supported platforms page to see which prerequisite you need to run SugarCRM

Depending on your version, you can Run SugarCRM with MySQL as well as DB2, SQL Server or Oracle. The supported platforms page will provide you more guidance on that.
